Thank you all for our very nice stay, would recommend it to family and friends. Clean and peaceful place, has lovely views of the garden. The breakfast is delicious and excellent, and the location is wonderful so close to the Nelson's Tower on the hill, less so by dining options and town centre. The rooms are updated and neat with clean bathrooms.

Our bedroom was stunning. Breakfasts were very good. Most of the staff were very nice and helpful.
Did not consider the dinners what we would have expected in a four star hotel. We were not informed about Sunday carvery , turned up at 8pm to be told we were too late! We then sat in a function room to dine (dining room shut ) as the staff cleared away the carvery and all the hot plates etc right infront of our table. Not very relaxing ! We asked for some bread and got 4 triangles of ordinary white stuff, surely something more interesting could have been found. Our white wine left from the previous night arrived at room temperature having just been put in an ice bucket. A chicken caesar salad arrived minus the bacon , anchovies and parmesan shavings as stated on the menu. A poor show altogether for a dinner in a hotel of this calibre.

The location was brilliant, close to The Tolbooth. The beds were big, I slept well.

Hotel location was just off the main road but there was no road noise. Service was very good and food was excellent. Hotel was very busy on the night we stayed as there was a wedding in the hotel, so it made it verry difficult to get a table for dinner due to the number of wedding guests.

Extremely comfortable hotel offering good food with a very friendly & efficient staff.
Although not a problem for us the lack of a lift to the upper floor may be a handicap for some potential visitors.

It has lovely character. Is very relaxing, has beautiful grounds. Charming. We spent our wedding night there 25 years ago and returned to spend our Silver Wedding Anniversary there.
A more friendly welcome at reception would have been nice.

Ideal for those seeking a quiet escape
The food at dinner was fantastic, generous portions that I couldn't resist. And let me tell you, the staff were very good, especially a lady named Val who really took care of everything, like some kind of superhero in a hospitality cape.
It wasn't a budget option, but considering the level of service, it was acceptable.

My eldest daughter choose the hotel on the internet. She fancied somewhere 'special' looking. The Ramnee is set off the road and has that 'special' feeling to it. Our family room was a twin room a double room with a bathroom between them. Therefore we had more space between us, which was nice.

The room was spacious, with a comfortable bed, made it easy to recharge after a long day of work. I was particularly impressed by the dining experience. The dinner offered large portions of freshly cooked venison that exceeded my expectations, and the following morning's breakfast maintained that high standard with a good variety of choices.
The hotel shows some signs of age.
